Euromold 2013 - Day 1&2 Update

It's day two and already an exciting show.  When the show opened on Tuesday, it was unlike any trade show I've ever been to. I've been able to to see so many advancements in the additive manufacturing industry that it would make your head spin!!

One of those advancements was the use of a traditional dental scanner, normally used in place of the standard dental impression process, being used for reverse engineering of small highly detailed parts.  The scanner not only scanned a detailed figurine, but also processed the scan and produced a STL file within three minutes!

There was a big material announcement from Stratasys. The new FDM material, Nylon 12, was introduced to the public. This new material can be run on the Fortus 900mc, Fortus 400mc, and Fortus 360mc.  This material produces parts with great flex and snap features.  This material is a great fit between ABS and PC.

In addition to the materials announcement, another attraction in the Stratasys booth is live injection molding of molds built using Connex technology.  Imagine building your molds one day and having the injection molded parts one day later.
