SolidWorks Sustainability

Developing a product with least amount of environmental impact is a huge challenge. Companies are typically sceptical of the concept because it might add to their bottom line. SolidWorks Sustainability helps integrate green efforts at concept stage of product development. Life Cycle Assessment looks at what happens in production, use and final disposal of product. This even includes the transportation impact that occurs between the stages. Decisions on material used, how it is manufactured and other factors can resul in vastly different effects on the environment. SolidWorks Sustainability shows you these impacts and helps you improve your designs.

Wisconsin - Illinois Simulation User Group

The best way to evaluate design performance is by testing it. With ever reducing design cycle time, and multitude of projects every engineer needs to work upon; virtual testing paves the way to save time and money.

On November 5th an elite group meets up in Wisconsin trying to understand, how fellow designers crank the most out of their designs. The Wisconsin / Illinois Simulation User Group is made of individuals who go an extra step with conceptual designs. The discussions spring around different features available in SolidWorks Simulation, work arounds to set backs if any, cool use of technology to come up with next generation designs. Engineers from all walks of life spend a day, talking about what Simulation has done to improve their design cycle.

CATI has been a patron of the group since its initiation. Our technical staff has shown active participation, ensuring customer success with technology. It also gives you an opportunity to put a face to people; you get regular emails from, or talk to them on phone. Besides, what better way to understand technology than seeing how it is being practiced in industry?

When: November 5th 2010

Where: Rudd Lighting Inc. 9201 Washington Avenue, Racine, WI, 53406.

Time:   10 am to 3 pm.

Hope to see you there.

SolidWorks 2011: 2D Planar Analysis

Many a times a complex problem can be simplified by testing the parts in 2D. In Simulation 2011 users can select a plane and apply loads and restraints to 2D model. Once the test is run, results can be interpolated to a 3D model. Since only planar sections are solved, there is little overhead, reducing run time significantly.

Solve Complex Problems - Without complexity

Is it possible a complex problem has a not so complex solution to it?

Come to think about it, usually the simple the solution the better it works. In my quest to find such cases I turned to my all time favorite search engine....Google and voila there is an entire website dedicated to this. Not surprisingly it is hosted by SolidWorks. .....

http://www.solidworks.com/sw/products/9676_ENU_HTML.htm

There are many case studies you can download. Can you find one that relates to your specific engineering environment?
